Arsene Wenger

The last may not be heard of Arsene Wenger if reports emerging are anything to go by.

The soon to be Ex Arsenal coach is said to be in the fore for the chance to become the president of Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ligue 1 giants want the Frenchman to run the club with former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel, who is set to replace manager Unai Emery.

According to report PSG wants to tap into wenger's extensive knowledge of the game and its politics, as well as his unrivaled contacts book.

Wenger who announced his departure last week Friday was left with no choice but to stand down with the board deciding last two weeks that this would be his last season in charge.

Arsenal will pay Wenger £11 million in severance as a thank you for two decades at the club in which he won three Premier League titles and a record seven FA Cups.

Tributes have continued to pour in for super eagles captain, Mikel Obi on the occasion of his 31st birthday.

Mikel was born in Jos, North in Plateau state on April 22, 1987 and has represented the country at different youth levels (U-17, U-20 and U-23).

Mikel Obi was part of the team that won the Africa Nations Cup title in South Africa in 2013 and captained the U-23 side that won bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.


Kirby Wins!



Chelsea's Ladies striker Fran Kirby won the vote for the Professional Footballers' Association Women's Player of the Year.

She has scored 22 goals in all competitions so far this term and has been an Inspiration for the Chelsea

PFA Winner

Egyptian player Mohamed Salah has been voted the PFA Player of the Year for the 2017-18 season after a star performance at Liverpool.


Former Chelsea player Salah became the first person in Premier League history to claim three Player of the Month awards in the same season,winning it in November,February and March, and was the only member of Liverpool's squad to be named in the PFA Team of the Year.

Salah scored 41 goals in 46 appearances for his Anfield club.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Borusia Dortmund



Borussia Dortmund will try to redeem a disappointing Bundesliga season with victory over fellow Champions League contenders Bayer Leverkusen today.

Dortmund,who will be without injured striker Michy Batshuayi, will face a Leverkusen side who are still nursing the wounds inflicted by Bayern Munich in a 6-2 loss at the German Cup semifinal.

Leverkusen are hungry for success and in third place with a slightly better goal difference than Dortmund.


Should Dortmund lose, then waiting in the wings for a shot at a top-four finish and a Champions League group stage spot next season are RB Leipzig in fifth on 47 ,they host sixth-placed Hoffenheim today.

Grigor's 1st Time!

For the first time Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov reached the Monte Carlo Masters semi-finals  with victory over David Goffin on Friday.

World number 5  Dimitrov now books a last four clash with defending champion and 10-time winner Rafael Nadal who produced a stunning performance to thrash Dominic Thiem and reached a record 14th Monte Carlo Masters Semi-final.
Dimitrov who has struggled on clay in the past and has never passed the French Open third round, wrapped up victory in the breaker on his second match point to claim one of the best wins of his career on clay.

Reports says Arsene Wenger will kiss his job good-bye at Arsenal at the end of the season.

Wenger who managed the club for 22-years will bid the gunners farewell a year before his latest contract  expires.  

The Gunners are sixth in the league and are set to miss out on a top-four spot for the second straight season, with their hopes of reaching the Champions League resting on winning the Europa League.

Arsene wenger was Appointed on 1 October 1996, he is the Premier League's current longest-serving manager and has taken charge of a record 823 games.


Bradley Banned!

Former Lincoln City defender Bradley Wood has been banned for six years and fined £3,275 pounds by an FA tribunal after being found guilty of match-fixing and betting offences.

The player was accused of getting himself booked on purpose in two FA Cup matches in January and February 2017 to influence a football betting market.

Woods was banned for five years for the match-fixing offences and a further year for 23 other charges of betting on the outcome of matches.

El clasico Confirmed!

La Liga has confirmed that the last El Clasico of the 2017-18 season will be played on Sunday, May 6th at the Camp Nou.

The last time the two teams met Barcelona beat Real Madrid 0-3 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

If the pains of the wounds inflicted by Blaugrana hasn't healed, then Los blancos will come to the match with ruthless vengeance.


Lions Vs Eagles!

Tickets for the June 2 friendly between the Three Lions of England and the Super Eagles slated for the Wembley Stadium are almost sold out. 

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick who revealed
this added that from the interest shown by fans, the match promised to be exciting.

Nigeria is yet to beat England after two meetings,the best result for the Super Eagles against the Three Lions was a 0-0 draw in group D of the 2002 Korea/Japan World Cup.

5 years On! Get Well Soon Schumacher!

Reports says Micheal Schumacher’s family have issued a touching message about the seven-time Formula One champion, who has been in a coma since 2013. 

The message was relayed through his manager Sabine Kehm who according to reports said the family appreciates all the messages of support from fans around the world,however the message issued four years on from his tragic accident, did not include any updates about Schumacher's current condition.

Schumacher’s family seldom comment on his condition and his wife has previously said: “The decision to protect his privacy from the public has been taken in Michael's interest.

Michael Schumacher suffered a terrible head injury while skiing in the French Alps on December 29th 2013 and due to the extent of his injuries the record-breaking Formula One driver was put into a medically induced coma.

Schumacher was later brought out of coma in April 2014 but subsequently underwent two complex and life-saving operations after which he was moved to a hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland.

He was later moved to the family home near Lake Geneva in Switzerland, where a team of specialists provide around the clock care.

Schumacher’s wife, Corinna Betsch, has been silent about her husband’s condition along with son Mick, 19, and daughter Gina-Maria, 21.

NFF writes FIFA!

The Nigeria Football Federation is reported to have asked world soccer governing body, FIFA to release to it $2 million to pay the Super Eagles their qualification bonus ahead of the 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia. 

According to an online medium, NFF general secretary Mohammed Sanusi wrote a letter dated April 9 requesting for the fund, which is to be drawn from the money to be paid the country for qualifying for Russia 2018. 

Last year, the NFF and the Super Eagles reached an agreement as it concerns how much they should be paid for qualifying for the World Cup as well as their match bonuses at the various rounds of the global championship.

Meanwhile President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick,(NFF), has said the Super Eagles stand the chance of pocketing $24 million if they play in the final of the 2018 World Cup.

Pinnick told newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday at a parley that the money was part of the agreement reached with the players to share 50-50 of whatever would accrue to the country if they get to the final and lift the trophy. 

According to the NFF boss adequate preparation including grade A friendly matches have been secured with England and Czech Republic to ensure the team does well at the World Cup. 

Pinnick further said that the glass house had already secured $2.8 million to pay the players allowances and bonuses during the mundial,adding that the football house met with some state governors who were ready to assist the NFF financially to achieve the country’s World Cup dream.

Reports says The president of the DR Congo Football Association (Fecofa) Constant Omari has been taken into custody as part of a probe into embezzlement of $1m (800,000 euros) earmarked for four matches.

His detention was confirmed on Wednesday by an investigating magistrate.

Omari, who is also on the Fifa Council and a vice-president with the Confederation of African Football, is being held along with the sports ministry secretary-general and two Fecofa vice-presidents.

Banned!

Mexican professional middleweight boxer Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has been banned for six months after failing two drugs tests earlier this year.

Alvarez's ban has been backdated, so he will be free to fight from 17 August.

The hearing panel voted to hand down a one-year ban, reduced to six months because Alvarez had cooperated with their investigation.

According to reports Alvarez's promoters said meat contamination had "impacted dozens of athletes in Mexico over the last years",Clenbuterol is used to treat asthma but can also help build lean muscle mass and burn off fat. It is sometimes illegally mixed into livestock feed to make meat leaner.

Alvarez who has won 49 and drawn two of his 52 fights had his only defeat in 2013. against Floyd Mayweather.

Aguero OUT!

Manchester City’s top scorer Sergio Aguero is unlikely to play again this season after undergoing a knee operation.

Aguero flew to Barcelona where he went under the knife to address a cartilage damage.

Man city coach Pep Guardiola who has cast doubt over Sergio's fitness will watch City’s season finish on May 13 away at Southampton.



It's Mo Farah Again!

Sir Mohamed Muktar Jama "Mo" Farah will be on the tracks at this Sunday's race in London. 

 The  World and Olympic champion at 5000 and 10,000 metres  who dropped controversial coach Alberto Salazar will be up against Twelve men in Sunday's race whom according to  reports have recorded faster times than Mo at the long distance race.

Mo Farah However believes he can compete with the very best at this Sunday’s London Marathon despite failing to deliver during his first attempt  in 2014,this time Farah is targeting Steve Jones’s 33-year-old British record of 2:07:13, as well as Sondre Nordstad Moen’s European best of 2:05:48.

Boston Marathon!



American long distant runner Desiree (Desi) Linden and two-time Olympian, won the Boston Marathon on Monday,the first time for
the country in more than 30 years.


Desi battled the rain and wind to win the race recording a finishing time of 2:39:54 making it her first marathon win in her career.

Linden who finished second in the women's division In 2011,according to reports took the lead around the 2-hour, 12-minute mark, passing Gladys Chesir of Kenya and Mamitu Daska of Ethiopia. 

Finishing second was American Sarah Sellers, while Krista Duchene of Canada was third.

Victor Moses

Reports says Super Eagles forward, Victor Moses, has been shortlisted for Chelsea’s Player of the Year for the 2017-18 season.

The Nigerian professional footballer who plays for premier league club chelsea is nominated for the prestigious award alongside N’Golo Kanté, Eden Hazard, Willian, Andreas Christensen, César Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.

Moses has played 32 matches in all competitions, scoring three goals and registering same number of assists this season.

Grace upon Grace!

A former national coach of Rwanda's women football club  Grace Nyinawumuntu who was sacked over allegations of sexually assaulting her players has been awarded 47,000 dollars by a court verdict for wrongful dismissal.

Grace who was fired by top league team AS Kigali women in March 2017 was vindicated by the ruling over the allegations, which she says were false. .

According to reports Grace Nyinawumuntu who is the first Rwandan women's international referee and its first women's national football coach,was ostracized after the sexual assault allegations making it difficult for her to get other jobs.

The $47,000 pay-off also includes her lost salary plus her legal fees. 

Meanwhile the club has reportedly said that it will challenge the court decision.

American professional basketball player Dwayne Wade turned in a vintage performance,scoring 28 points to end the 76ers'17-game winning streak and lead the Miami Heat to a 113-103 Game 2 win over Philadelphia on Monday night and even the first-round playoff series.

Shooting guard Wade made his first seven shots of the game and passed Larry Bird for 10th on the NBA's career postseason scoring list.

Game 3 is Thursday and Game 4 is Saturday in Miami.

Defending champions Golden State Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs 116-101 on Monday night for a 2-0 lead in their first-round series.

Kevin Durant sparked a decisive third-quarter run on the way to 32 points,Klay Thompson added 31 points and five assists in another superb playoff performance

Stephen Curry who's absence may not be missed remains likely out for the entire series due to a sprained left knee.

Nigeria’s number one table tennis star Aruna Quadri will feature for the first time at the Games today when he competes in the men’s doubles round of 32.

Quadri missed out on the men’s team event due to illness but will partner 43-year-old Segun Toriola in the doubles event against Tomlison Simon and Watson Kane from Jamaica.

Nigeria’s Yinka Ajayi made it to the final of the women’s 400 meters at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games scheduled for today.

Yinka who competed in the second semi finals and  finished second with a time of 51.81 secs  also won gold for Nigeria in the 4X400m relay at the 2015 Africa Junior Championships in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Even the world’s best player Lionel Messi couldn’t stop Roma last night as they beat Barcelona 3-0 to advance to the semi-finals 4-4 on aggregate. 

Roma who produced one of the greatest comebacks in Champions League history, last reached the last four of Europe's premier club competition in 1983-84 when they lost to Liverpool in the final.

Cameroonian Athletes play games!

Reports says Eight Cameroonian athletes (3 weightlifters and 5 boxers)  who have valid Australian visas until 15th May 2018,have gone missing from their accommodation at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.

The Commonwealth Games Federation said it would monitor the situation but athletes had "the right to travel freely" on their visas.

According to reports in 2012, seven Cameroonian athletes  disappeared while in the UK for the London Olympics.

England Women On the Go!


England women have moved top of their Women's World Cup qualifying group with a 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo.

England, who are second in the Fifa rankings were held to a goalless draw by Wales in Southampton four days ago.

The Victory against Herzogovina was England's second in five games.

Liverpool Lives!

Liverpool came from behind to win 2-1 at Manchester City to secure their first champions league semi final.

From the first leg city's Raheem Sterling set up Gabriel Jesus for a good finish after only two minutes,Sane scrambled home what seemed a second  goal but it was ruled out as off side by referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz this caused Pep Guardiola to march on to the pitch to face off with the referee leading to him being sent off to the stands.

Meanwhile Jurgen Klopp has said his side overcame the best team in the world after goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino sealed their Champions League quarter-final qualification.

The Reds will discover their semi-final opponents when the draw is made on Friday in Nyon, Switzerland.

Common wealth Love!

Love was surely in the air after England's 81-54 victory over Cameroon,as the stage was set for Jamella Anderson who proposed to his loving lover Georgia Jones at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday.

Anderson plays his club basketball for FG La Roda in Spain while Jones his now fiancee plays for Manchester Mystics in the Women's British Basketball League.

According to reports Anderson chose the Commonwealth Games as the ideal venue for a proposal as both players get to represent their country on the world stage at the same event.

World number 24 Patrick Nathaniel Reed claimed his first major title with a one-shot win at the Masters at Augusta.

Reed is the ninth first-time major winner in the past 12 Masters and all four major championships are now held by Americans - all of whom are aged 27 or under.

R.I.P Goolaerts...

Belgian Cyclist Micheal Goolaerts has died after suffering a cardiac arrest as a result of a crash in Paris-Roubaix.


The Veranda's Willems-Crelan rider was airlifted to hospital in Lille after falling on the second set of cobbles in the one-day classic in northern France but died on Sunday.

Goolaerts who was in his fourth season in two spells with Belgian outfit Veranda's Willems-Crelan crashed 109km into the 257km race and was found unconscious by doctors. 

President of the Union Cycliste Internationale, David Lappartient has expressed the organisation's sadness at the tragic news.

Serbian Professional Tennis Player Novak Djokovic is back to practice, after a holiday with his family in the Dominican Republic.

The 13th ranked tennis star is back in Europe and not in Monte Carlo where he resides.

He is headed to Marbella, Spain, to start his training sessions on clay courts but has no coach now after splitting  with his coach Radek Stepanek and Andre Agassi.

The Monte Carlo Rolex Masters starts on April 15 2018. 


Chunky Belts Up!


British professional Boxer James Fredrick DeGale a.k.a "Chunky" regained his IBF super-middleweight title with a unanimous points decision over Caleb Truax in Las Vegas.

DeGale, who lost his belt in a shock points defeat to Truax in December did not underestimate him a second time.

DeGale fought with a cut over his right eye for more than nine rounds in a rough contest and was periodically troubled by the flow of blood from it but won on all three scorecards as the judges scored the fight 117-110 114-113 114-113.

Messi's Trick!


World class player Lionel Messi netted a hat-trick as Barcelona beat Leganes 3-1 at home.

Barcelona cruised to victory and Messi did the damage in the first half, curling home a sublime free-kick in the 27th minute - before firing in a second five minutes later.

Messi made sure of the win three minutes from time as he completed the hat-trick to take his tally to 39 goals in all competitions this season.

The result sees Barcelona continue their lead to the title, with 12 points ahead of Sunday's Madrid derby.

A Look at The Masters...


Former world number one Rory McIlroy made a sensational start to the third round of the Masters at Augusta national  by stepping up his bid to complete the career grand slam.

McIlroy began the day five shots off the lead held by Ryder Cup rival Patrick Reed, but birdied the third and fourth and then almost holed his tee shot on the par-three sixth.

McIIroy chipped In an eagle on the par-five eighth to join Reed in the lead on nine under par,He wiped out his five-shot overnight deficit with a front nine of 31 containing three birdies and a chip-in for eagle on the par-five eighth.

But Patrick Reed who lead at the halfway stage of the third round at the Masters Reed hit back with a hat-trick of birdies from the eighth.

He gave a stunning tee shot on the sixth left the Northern Irishman with a tap-in for birdie and the putter was not even needed on the eighth as his chip from right of the green - which was travelling at some speed - hit the pin and dropped in for an eagle.

Meanwhile European number one Tommy Fleetwood had played his first 14 holes in five under par and was joined on that score by the world's top two ranked players, Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas.

Derby Delivery from the Devils!!!


Manchester United mounted a remarkable second-half derby fightback to come from two goals down to win Manchester city 2-3 at the  Etihad stadium. 

Manchester City needed a win but Paul Pogba scored two goals in two minutes to overhaul City's first-half lead before Chris Smalling completed the overturn.

Pep Guardiola's side had delivered in the first-half with captain Vincent Kompany scoring with a header after 25 minutes and 

Ilkay Gudogan adding a second five minutes later however Man City will win the title if they beat Tottenham next week Saturday and if United lose at home to bottom club West Brom on Sunday.

No Love for Heights in Korean Basketball league!


American professional basketball player David Simon faces a new rule designed to make South Korea’s competition less reliant on tall recruits.

David Simon, who plays for Anyang KGC, and stands at 6ft 7in,  got the news that he can no longer play in the Korean Basketball League on account of being too tall.

The Korean league is pushing to make the game less reliant on tall players and encourage the recruitment of small, skillful players in a bid to arrest the league’s recent decline in popularity.

The Korea Times reports that the KBL commissioner, Kim Young-il, said games which have become dull in recent years is expected to make the competition more exciting with the new rules.

Oh No Really!? Conor McGregor!


Irish professional mixed martial artist and boxer Conor Anthony McGregor has been arrested. 

Reports says the former Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight champion and former featherweight champion turned himself in at Brooklyn's 78th precinct on Thursday as he waits to be charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment today (Friday 6/04/18).

McGregor tweeted to say the New York State Athletic Commission had decided to pull him from his bout against Anthony Pettis. Addressing his opponent, he said: 'I'm devastated to say the least. @Showtimepettis I hope to run this match up ASAP, June 9th in your backyard. That's all I have to say for now. Much love.' 

Newly emerged footage showed McGregor picking up a dolly and hurling it at his rivals' bus after the UFC 223 media day at Barclays Center in New York City on Thursday.In video he is seen running to the bus and throwing the dolly at the moving bus, slamming a window through which the passengers can be seen.

Commonwealth Games 2018: Fans react to opening ceremony.



The 2018 Commonwealth Games got underway with the opening ceremony on Wednesday night and social media lit up with reaction to the event.

Athletes from 71 teams that will compete in 275 events across 19 sports over the next 11 days filled Carrara Stadium on the Gold Coast.

Aspects of Australian culture were highlighted, as well as the Gold Coast lifestyle.

The ceremony started with a discussion about aliens that seemed to go over most viewers' heads
