American long distant runner Desiree (Desi) Linden and two-time Olympian, won the Boston Marathon on Monday,the first time for
the country in more than 30 years.
Desi battled the rain and wind to win the race recording a finishing time of 2:39:54 making it her first marathon win in her career.
Linden who finished second in the women's division In 2011,according to reports took the lead around the 2-hour, 12-minute mark, passing Gladys Chesir of Kenya and Mamitu Daska of Ethiopia.
Finishing second was American Sarah Sellers, while Krista Duchene of Canada was third.
